What is emotional regulation?
All of us have some degree of emotional regulation. It's the ability to manage our emotional state whenever we are faced with something that attempts to change it. When faced with anxiety, how well can you slow its impact on your thoughts and body? When faced with anger, how well can you redirect your thoughts and express them in ways that are adaptive and healthy? When faced with sadness, how well can you reframe your thoughts and keep yourself afloat?
Emotional regulation is a skill that builds over time, and we all have varying degrees of how good we are at it. Maybe you had caregivers who struggled with regulating their emotions in front of you, or maybe you were taught that only one style of regulating was the way to go. Through our workshop, you can learn the basics of emotional regulation and how to feel more in control when you're emotionally activated.
